WMHA AGM and ELECTIONS NOTICE AND CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The Whitehorse Minor Hockey (WMHA) Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday August 19, 2020 at 6:30PM 

Virtual Meeting Via Zoom (Zoom details and meeting agenda coming soon)

The AGM will be followed by an election

All WMHA members are eligible to attend (anyone with a player registered for the 2020-2021 season will be considered a member, as well as any current WMHA board member and executive)

One (1) vote per family regardless of number of guardians or number of players in WMHA.

All members will be required to sign in upon logging onto the zoom meeting

Anyone wishing to seek a position with the WMHA Board of Directors is required to submit their nomination form on or before August 11th at Noon.

Nomination forms must be signed by 3 WMHA members (in addition to the Candidate and the Nominator)

About the WMHA Board of Directors

BOARD    The Board shall be composed of 15 members.

Executive Members

  • President
  • Vice-President Recreation
  • Vice-President High Performance
  • Vice President Female Hockey Programs
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer 

Board of Directors

  • Coaching Coordinator 
  • Referee in Chief (must be a certified official)
  • Communication Director
  • Equipment Director
  • Business Affairs Director
  • Director at Large (up to 3)
  • Discipline/Safety Officer

 

Convenors for each division shall be appointed 

 

QUALIFICATIONS TO BE ON THE WMHA BOARD

Shall be eighteen years of age or over, shall reside in the Service Area, and be a Member in good standing with WMHA. 

Have the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas to others while working in a team environment.

Be prepared to attend 3 to 4 Board Meetings over the calendar year, and the Annual Meeting

 

 Be prepared to be involved in at least one (1) committee.

 NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF DIRECTORS   

 Every Member is eligible for nomination and election as Director providing that Member meets the qualifications set out above. Every nomination of a candidate for election as a Director must be submitted in a form approved by the WMHA and must:

 

(1)        be signed by at least three (3) active Members in addition to the Nominator and the Candidate;

(2)        be endorsed with or accompanied by the written consent of the Member nominated; and

(3)        be received at the offices of WMHA via EMAIL ONLY on or before NOON August 11th 2020.

 

In order to be elected as a Director, the nominee must be in attendance at the meeting in which the election of Directors is conducted.  Failure to attend will result in the nominee’s name being removed from the list of nominees.

Three (3) unexcused absences from WMHA Board duties will result in dismissal from the WMHA Board of Directors.
